How long do wet glue labels last before they start peeling?
A correctly specified and applied wet glue label should remain attached throughout the intended shelf life of the packaged product. There is no universal number of months or years because label performance depends on the paper, adhesive, container surface, application quality, storage temperature, humidity, and exposure to water or chemicals.
Premature peeling is usually a sign that part of the labelling system is mismatched. Insufficient adhesive, contaminated bottles, unsuitable paper, incorrect glue formulation, poor application pressure, or repeated moisture exposure can all reduce bond performance.
For products with demanding storage conditions, the proposed label and adhesive should be tested on the actual container through filling, transport, storage, refrigeration, and other expected conditions before full production.
