Can security labels be applied to existing packaging without redesigning it?
Yes, many security labels can be added to existing packaging without requiring a complete packaging redesign. Self-adhesive holograms, VOID labels, destructible labels, serialised QR labels, and certain security seals can be applied to existing bottles, cartons, caps, electronics, and other packaging surfaces.
The available label area, container material, surface shape, opening point, and application process still need to be considered. For example, a tamper-evident label must bridge the correct closure or opening point if it is expected to reveal unauthorised access.
Adding security to an existing pack can therefore be relatively straightforward, but a physical application trial should be performed before mass production to confirm adhesion, placement, tamper behaviour, and compatibility with the existing design.
