What is the difference between security labels and regular tamper-proof packaging?
Security labels are dedicated authentication or tamper-detection components added to a product or package, while tamper-evident packaging refers more broadly to packaging designed so interference or opening becomes visible.
A security label can incorporate holograms, VOID patterns, destructible films, UV inks, serial numbers, or QR codes. Some are designed mainly to authenticate a genuine product, while others reveal attempted removal or opening.
Packaging can also provide tamper evidence through shrink bands, sealed closures, induction seals, breakable caps, or structural features without using a security label. In higher-risk applications, packaging integrity and authentication labels are often used together rather than treated as alternatives.
