What is the difference between holographic labels and QR code labels?
Holographic labels primarily provide physical visual authentication, while QR code labels provide digital identification and can support verification, traceability, or consumer interaction. The two technologies solve different parts of the product-security problem.
A proprietary hologram uses optical effects that are difficult to reproduce accurately using conventional printing or photocopying. A QR code, by contrast, can connect the physical product to digital information and, when uniquely serialised, identify individual units.
A generic QR code is not automatically an anti-counterfeit feature because the same printed code can be copied. For stronger security, brands often combine a proprietary hologram with a unique serialised QR code, giving consumers both physical and digital verification methods.
