Which labels are suitable for products exported internationally?

Industry-Specific Packaging Guides 1 min read Updated October 3, 2026

Labels for internationally exported products should be selected according to both physical shipping conditions and the regulatory requirements of the destination market. Durable self-adhesive films, shrink sleeves, multilayer labels, security labels, and specialised tags can all be suitable depending on the product category.

Export labels may need multilingual information, destination-specific regulatory declarations, barcodes, batch or lot identification, hazard communication, country-of-origin information, or traceability data. Products exposed to long transit periods, humidity, temperature changes, or outdoor storage may also need enhanced moisture, UV, abrasion, or chemical resistance.

There is therefore no universal “export label.” The packaging specification should be checked against the product category, destination country, transport conditions, applicable regulations, and customer or retailer requirements before production.
