Electronics products need specialised identification and security labels because components and finished devices require permanent, tamper-evident identification for warranty and quality tracking, resistance to electrostatic discharge in sensitive assembly environments, and authentication features to protect against counterfeit components entering supply chains.

Electronic devices and components are frequently identified by serial numbers, rating plates, and compliance markings that need to remain legible and intact for the product’s full operational life, sometimes many years, which requires durable, permanently bonded label constructions such as in-mould labelling or specialised durable film labels rather than standard removable formats. Warranty-void stickers serve a specific functional purpose in this category, providing tamper evidence that shows whether a device has been opened, which is often tied directly to warranty terms and after-sales service policies.

ESD-safe, or electrostatic-discharge-safe, labels are a category-specific requirement relevant during manufacturing and handling of sensitive electronic components, since a standard label material can generate or fail to dissipate static electricity in ways that risk damaging sensitive circuitry during production or assembly. Counterfeit electronic components are also a significant supply chain risk, given both the safety implications of substandard parts and the financial impact of counterfeit product entering distribution channels, which is why serialised authentication labels and security features similar to those used in other high-risk industries are increasingly applied to electronic components and finished devices alike.
